Images generated by AI are flooding the social media. How to spot them?

AI is generating images in such a way that it is getting harder to tell which one is generated by AI and which one is not. It is getting so good that nowadays they are also creating real human-like faces and you won't be able to tell the difference.

But don't worry, we are here to make that possible. Just go through this article.

1. Check these odd details

AI is good, but it still struggles with the very fine details, like check out these features if it is presented or not.

AI is still not able to generate hands and fingers. It very often fails to measure the number of fingers and the feet and hands are often replaced and the number of fingers also mismatches and they are distorted.

Now the second one is weird type of text. Like if you tell it to write something on the photo, it will write that but along with that there will be some distortion and it will be wrapped or some logo will be there that doesn't relate to the text. And the spelling would be incorrect.

Now the third one, the faces might be unsymmetrical. It sometimes struggles with the making of faces. So the eyes might be of unequal sizes. And that's how you can make a decision about how the AI generated images are different.

2. Skin texture and smoothness

If you check for the skin of the humans or anything, it may look very smooth to you, very plastic-like.
This is because AI tends to remove all type of imperfections, and that's what makes it look unrealistic and very much flawless. But it also makes it different from the real picture, and that's how you spot the difference.

3. Physics Rules

The lighting and the shadows rule of the physics is not being followed in the AI images.

If you see some lights coming out of any source and the shadows are being formed in any other direction, violating the physics rules, you just consider that it is definitely AI generated. Because it is not always perfect.

And even if the shadows look unnatural and colorful and inconsistent, then that is definitely AI created.

4. Check Backgrounds

Now if you look at the background, you may find out that the background is mostly blurry and unnoticeable, so if it is like that, it may be AI generated.

This isn't always with the real pictures, but in AI-generated pictures, that is how it is.

The background contains some unrelated objects and things that might not be related to the subject.

5. Search images on search engine

If an image looks suspicious to you, you can also do Google search. Like go to the Google Lens and put that image there and if it appears in the search in some validated or credible website, then it might not be AI generated. But if it doesn't appear and it looks new to you, that is a case of AI created image.

And there are also some tools to make sure that the image is AI generated or not. Like there is a website called ILLUMINARTY. They check the reality of any image.

While AI image generation has advanced very much, it still has limitations, which makes it possible to detect these images if carefully observed.
